Just have to put this here for the comic effect

We all know not to take tele evangelists seriously but…well…seriously folks. Laugh your ass off at this:

Oh America, I’m ashamed of your ignorance at times like these

School forced to apologize for celebrating language and diversity in America

A school, a house of education, is forced to apologize for having done nothing wrong. You’re allowed to hold whatever bigoted opinions you want but you should keep it to yourself in the interest of social structure. That is maturity, anything else is infantile.

A celebration of languages is NOT an affront to any moral attitude that you may hold. Learn that and you’ll see that forcing a school to apologize (something they, as a source of education, should have refused to do) is undermining your own freedoms.

You’ve lost something here that your forefathers fought for. Stop worshiping, start thinking, wake up and open your eyes.

Apparently, life and life aren’t compatible

Seriously, why is this even under discussion? When politics despise life itself and say it ‘gets in the way’ of getting on with life things have gone wrong. This is from an atheist and not even America.

This is what your state religion looks like in America folks.

I have nothing to say to this, I think it speaks for itself.

This is what so-called ‘Morality’ looks like.

And we still require our leaders to subscribe to this crap.

Okay, so I had something to say.

Christians angry at Christians, shock, gasp

An article yesterday on Obama’s speech at a prayer breakfast in Washington highlights many of the reasons that we need to get god OUT of government. Obama put it clearly when he said

And lest we get on our high horse and think this is unique to some other place, remember that during the Crusades and the Inquisition, people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ…

Indeed Obama, mixing religion and state policy is dangerous, it has been so historically and it is so today. Remember Bush invoking the Christian god when he invaded a country illegally? Didn’t he justify his actions in the name of Christ? When you, Mr. Obama, order drone strikes do you pray that you are doing the right thing in your god’s name? Is any behaviour by any US official Christ-like? Do you call the bail-out of banks who ruined many people’s lives forgiveness?

When any god is used in order to gather support for political action then the basis for such action is tenuous at best. You say that “people of faith reconcile these realities,” well that works both ways. Bush publicly used religion to reconcile his own murderous acts and I wonder if you don’t do the same.

You mention “a tendency in us, a sinful tendency” and then imply that the principles that guide us to the right are particular to those of your Christian faith. Well Mr. President, I’ve seen more heinous crimes committed by so-called Christians in government than I’ve seen amongst my many agnostic and atheist friends. Those people that own their morality, that understand without having to rely on false beliefs the difference between right and wrong are smarter and stronger, because they don’t have to credit some imaginary deity.

Get god out of government, stop claiming that a book of fairy tales is why we are good. We are good because we know that in order to be a better society, we need to work together. Religion is divisive, religion is used all too often (the point you were making) to do bad things. Our government is evidence of this.

And I’m not even going to bother with Santorum’s response. Let’s just say that ignoring history is NOT the wisest of reactions.
